DESERT INN
Desert Inn is a metaphorical reconstruction of a situation; an attempt to materialize the odd solitude of the billionaire Howard Hughes as well as the sequence of experiences lived, I guess, by all of us in deep loneliness. Hopelessly looping thoughts, the experience of absolute timelessness or of a time expanded into slowness beyond measure whereby the outlines of worldly objects seem blurred or are straight imperceptible. When the things we own, our accumulated knowledge and experience, real or imaginary achievements all appear to be irrelevant and petty; when the world shrinks into endless distance and self-expression as such becomes
entirely pointless.
Solitude is a transcendental fever – the limit of the will to live.

A Desert Inn egy metaforikus helyzetrekonstrukció, amely megkísérli tárgyiasítani Howard Hughes – a milliárdos – különös magányát, egyszersmind azt az élménysort, amelyet véleményem szerint mindannyian átélünk a magányban. Hurokszerűen önmagukba visszatérő gondolatsorok, az abszolút időtlenség vagy éppenséggel a végtelen lassúvá kitágult idő megtapasztalása, amikor a dolgok és a világ körvonalai csak tompán vagy egyáltalán nem érzékelhetők. Amikor birtokolt dolgaink, az addig felhalmozott tudásunk és tapasztalatunk, vélt vagy valós eredményeink lényegtelennek és kicsinyesnek tűnnek, amikor a világ végtelenül távolivá zsugorodik, amikor az önkifejezés teljesen értelmet-lenné válik.
A magány egy transzcendentális láz – a létezni akarás határa.
